Roy Hodgson’s men put in a stalwart display against Man City at the weekend, grabbing a last gasp, but well deserved, draw. In Michael Olise, they have a real attacking threat and they will have been buoyed by the return of the equally exciting Eberechi Eze. Both can trouble a vulnerable Brighton defence that is yet to keep a clean sheet this Premier League season.

The Seagulls do have plenty of attacking options, although they haven’t exactly been at their free-flowing best recently. Evan Ferguson is struggling to build on his early form but Kaoru Mitoma’s pace and directness means he will challenge the Palace defence. Their last run-out versus Arensal was a toothless affair, though, and they will need to improve.

Cheick Doucoure and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi will not be available to Hodgson, through injury. Defenders Tariq Lamptey and Adam Webster remain out for the visitors.

Brighton have suffered only three defeats in their last 15 matches but those have come against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal. Palace, on the other hand, are struggling and are winless in their last six matches.

Palace had a challenging first half against Manchester City that necessitated a defensive reshuffle due to Joel Ward's hamstring injury in the 34th minute.

The Palace medical room is currently filled with Cheick Doucoure (Achilles), Jesurun Rak-Sakyi (thigh), Rob Holding (ankle), Sam Johnstone (calf), Odsonne Edouard (knee), and Jefferson Lerma (thigh). On a positive note, Jordan Ayew is set to return after serving a one-game suspension.

Brighton faced a right-back injury woe during their defeat to Arsenal, with Joel Veltman being forced off the pitch after just 27 minutes due to knee pain.

Brighton's injury concerns extend to Julio Enciso and Solly March, who are sidelined with knocks. Tariq Lamptey, Pervis Estupinan, and Ansu Fati are recovering from thigh issues, while there is uncertainty about the return of Adam Webster who has been out with a knock.

In both teams' final Premier League game before Christmas, the Eagles are looking for their first win in seven matches while the Seagulls are looking for back-to-back derby wins for the first time in five seasons.

Palace's preparations were given an almighty boost by coming from two goals down to draw at champions Manchester City, while Brighton barely put a finger on Arsenal in a resounding 2-0 defeat. Who will sign off for Xmas with a bang?

Eberechi Eze came off the bench in the dying minutes against Manchester City so could be in line for a start, while Jordan Ayew is available again after suspension. The impressive David Ozoh could continue in midfield.

Brighton have no fresh injury concerns, and were boosted by the returns of both Joao Pedro and Danny Welbeck from injury last time out.

Brighton are favourites for the bookies despite their inconsistent form and a less-than-impressive record in this modern derby.

Goals may be at a premium, as they have been all season for both teams, and these games are rarely goalfests. Crystal Palace will fancy their chances against anyone under the Selhurst Park lights, but I'm plumping for a stalemate.

Roy Hodgson's side come into the clash on the back of their impressive 2-2 draw against champions Manchester City at the Etihad, but they've struggled to find form in recent weeks.

Palace, who are 15th in the table, have won one of their last 10 Premier League matches, and they'll be hoping to turn that around against their arch rivals on Thursday.

Brighton played Arsenal FC away from home in its last game and was defeated by a final score of 2-0. It was outshot by 19 in the match, 25 to six. Brighton failed to score, with Jack Hinshelwood leading the team in shots with two, against Arsenal.

Crystal Palace finished with a 2-2 road draw against Manchester City in its most recent match on December 16. Manchester City outshot Crystal Palace 20 to five. Jean-Philippe Mateta and Michael Olise each scored a goal for Crystal Palace.
